About Me and My Art Journey

My name is Janiece Stevens. I am an artist that was born and raised in Knoxville, TN and in different parts of East TN.

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember holding a pencil or marker. I fell in love with the way I could express myself through artwork that words could not. I knew from a very young age that artwork was my passion. I continued to follow my passion through schooling and learning what I could through books, media, and tutorials online.

In high school, I was given my first drawing tablet where I was introduced to the world of digital artwork. I continued to teach myself all different types of ways to draw using digital programs such as Photoshop, Pixlr, and Clip Studio Paint. As I was self taught, I dedicated myself to improve my skills in both digital and traditional artwork. I explored all the ways I could improve my style using different resources and techniques until I found what worked best for me. However this did not stop me from wanting to improve my artwork!

After graduating high school, I attended college at Watkins College of Art in Nashville TN where I learned the basics of Graphic Designing and how to market myself as an independent artist. I decided to pursue my passion during this time and work as a freelance artist as I attended college. After some time, I moved back to my hometown and worked as an Online Communication Specialist at Radio Systems Corporation. I did technical troubleshooting and online communication work such as chats and emails for a few years. While working at RSC, I attended courses and internships on digital marketing where I refined my skills in marketing.

I did still draw in my downtime while at RSC, but I began to miss the more creative side of myself as I have done corporation work for 5 years by this time. I decided it was time to get back into touch with my art career now that I have learned the necessary skills to properly run an art business and market myself as an artist. I said goodbye to my work family at Radio Systems Corporation to further pursue my art career as a full time artist and small business owner in 2023.

As of 2025, I have continued to work as a full time artist and business owner. Over the past few years, I have attended over 30+ different events and conventions across 5 different states to sell my artwork and products. I dedicate my life to producing works of art and goods that both I and other people can appreciate and relate to.  I will continue to strive to share my unique perspective with the world through artwork, commissions, and products, constantly pushing the boundaries of my artistic practice.  I am beyond grateful to all my supporters, friends and loved ones who have encouraged and supported me throughout my art journey.
